Which font generator actually has the most styles?
The answer depends on what you count as a "style" and whether you care about platform coverage or raw variety. Here's the honest ranking.
Every font generator on this list works the same way under the hood: it swaps your plain letters for look-alike Unicode characters — bold, italic, cursive, gothic, bubble, and so on — that you copy and paste into bios, posts, and usernames. None of them install real fonts. None of them change the typeface in the app you're pasting into. They all draw from the same Unicode standard, so a bold "A" from one tool is the same character as a bold "A" from another.
The real differences are how many styles each tool surfaces, how the interface is organized, and whether the tool helps you format text for a specific platform or just gives you a wall of options.
The ranking: style count + platform coverage
| Generator | Approximate style count | Platform-specific formatters | Native markdown support | Character counter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IGFonts | 20+ styles | Instagram only | No | No |
| BoldlyType | 18 style generators | 17 platforms | Yes (WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, Reddit) | Yes |
| YayText | ~15 styles | No | No | No |
| LingoJam | ~8–10 built-in + community | No | No | No |
| CoolSymbol | ~5 text styles | No | No | No |
A few notes on methodology. IGFonts' count is approximate because some of its "styles" are minor variations (bold vs. extra bold). LingoJam's count depends on whether you include community-created converters — the built-in library is around 8–10 styles, but the community catalog is enormous. CoolSymbol's primary focus is symbols and emoji, not text styles, so its lower count isn't a shortcoming — it's just not what the tool is built for.
1. IGFonts — most raw styles, Instagram only
IGFonts offers the highest raw style count — over 20 variations including bold, italic, script, double-struck, monospace, gothic, and several decorative variants. You type your text, see every style rendered at once, and copy the one you want.
The trade-off: IGFonts is built specifically for Instagram. It does that one job and does it well, but if you need to format text for LinkedIn, Twitter, Discord, or any other platform, you're on your own. There's no platform-specific guidance, no native formatting support, and no character counter.
Best for: Instagram-only users who want maximum style variety and don't need multi-platform tools.
2. BoldlyType — most styles with platform coverage
BoldlyType has 18 dedicated style generators: bold, italic, cursive, gothic, bubble, small text, fancy text, monospace, wide text, upside-down, underline, strikethrough, stylish text, and a general font generator that shows all styles at once.
What sets BoldlyType apart isn't just style count — it's what surrounds the styles. Each style generator is a standalone page with its own copy, best practices, and FAQ. Beyond that, BoldlyType bundles 17 platform-specific formatters for Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, TikTok, Discord, Reddit, WhatsApp, Slack, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Telegram, Snapchat, Google, Bluesky, and Mastodon. For WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, and Reddit, it generates native markdown those apps actually render — so you get real bold and italic, not Unicode workarounds.
It also includes a character counter with platform-specific limits and warns you about accessibility trade-offs (styled Unicode reads poorly to screen readers and breaks search matching).
The trade-off: Fewer raw style variations than IGFonts. If you want 25+ decorative variants and don't care about platform tools, IGFonts has more options.
