Editorial Standards
Every guide on BoldlyType is written by a named human, tested against the platform it covers, and reviewed on a quarterly cadence. Here's exactly how the process works.
How we research
We start with the actual platform — paste, format, screenshot — not other blog posts. Where claims rely on third-party docs (Unicode standards, platform help centers, accessibility guidelines), we link them in the "Sources" block at the bottom of the article.
How we test
Formatting guides are tested on the live platform from a clean session (iOS, Android, and web where rendering diverges). When a trick breaks on one surface, we say so — we don't pretend "works everywhere" because it makes for a tidier headline.
How we update
Every article is reviewed at least once a quarter. When platform behavior changes (Instagram's caption parser, LinkedIn's rich text, WhatsApp's markdown), we update the post and the "Updated" date on the article reflects the actual edit — not a refresh of the timestamp.
Corrections
Spotted an error? Email hello@boldlytype.com. Real corrections get applied within a few business days and credited in the article when material.
