Bullet Point Generator for LinkedIn & Instagram

LinkedIn, Instagram and X have no list button. Type one item per line, pick a bullet, and copy a list that keeps its shape when you paste it. Indent a line to nest it.

How to make bullet points for LinkedIn and Instagram

  1. Type or paste your points, one per line. Existing dashes, asterisks or numbers are cleaned up.
  2. Indent a line with two spaces (or a tab) to make it a sub-point.
  3. Pick a bullet for each level, and whether you want breathing room between items.
  4. Copy the list and paste it into your post.

Why a list needs special characters

LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Threads and TikTok captions are plain text: no list button, no markdown, and a typed “-” just looks like a hyphen. A bullet character such as • or ✅ is ordinary text, so it pastes and displays everywhere. Nested items are indented with em spaces (U+2003), which those apps keep; a run of ordinary leading spaces can get collapsed.

Instagram also removes empty lines between paragraphs. Switch on Instagram-safe blank lines and each blank line gets an invisible separator so the gap survives, the same technique as our Instagram line break tool.

Choosing a bullet

  • • ▪ – → read cleanly and are announced briefly by screen readers. Best for longer lists.
  • ✅ 👉 🔹 ⭐ stand out in a busy feed, but each one is read aloud by name. Keep these lists short.
  • 1. 1) 1️⃣ ① suit steps and rankings. Numbering restarts after a blank line.

Want a bold heading above the list? Make it in the bold text generator, or write the whole post in Google Docs and convert it with Docs to LinkedIn.

About the bullet point & list formatter.

LinkedIn's post editor has no list formatting, so the bullets have to be characters. Write each point on its own line here, choose a bullet such as • or ✅, and copy. The bullet characters paste into LinkedIn like any other text. Keep the list short (three to five points) and put the line that earns the click above the “…see more” cut.

LinkedIn Text Formatter

Start a line with two spaces or a tab to indent it one level (up to three levels). Nested lines get the second bullet style you pick and are indented with em spaces, which apps like LinkedIn and Instagram keep, unlike a run of ordinary spaces that can be collapsed.

Yes. Existing markers at the start of a line (-, *, •, 1., 1), a), ✅ and similar) are removed before the new bullet is added, so you can paste a list from notes or a doc and restyle it. A blank line restarts the numbering, and lines that end with a colon can be kept as plain headings.

In moderation. Screen readers announce each emoji by name (“check mark button”), so ten ✅ bullets get read out ten times. For long lists or accessibility-sensitive posts, a plain • or a numbered list reads better. Emoji bullets work best for short, scannable lists.
