Favicon tips
- Start from a square logo at 512px or larger — everything scales down from there. Non-square uploads get center-cropped to square automatically.
- Details vanish at 16px: a favicon is a mark, not a logo. If yours has text, test whether the 16px preview is still recognizable — often just the initial works better.
- Solid backgrounds survive tiny sizes better than transparency — browser tabs come in light and dark, and transparent edges can disappear into either.
- Drop the PNGs in your site root, paste the provided link tags into <head>, and hard-refresh — favicons are cached aggressively, so give browsers a day to catch up.

Don't I need a favicon.ico file?
For modern browsers, no — PNG favicons declared with link tags have been fully supported for a decade, and this tool gives you those. The .ico format matters only for Internet Explorer and some ancient bookmark systems. If you truly need one, dedicated .ico converters exist; most sites ship fine without it.
What sizes does the set include and why?

Why does my new favicon not show up?
